Head of Corporate Advisory, PharmaVentures Ltd. (Oxford, UK)

PharmaVentures is seeking an experienced strategic pharmaceutical consultant to assume leadership of its corporate advisory business. The successful candidate will have the responsibility to deliver against revenue and profitability targets, sell strategic advisory services, manage the Corporate Advisory team and participate in the execution of consultancy projects. This is a senior post requiring an experienced international executive who is inspired to work within a small but highly regarded international pharmaceutical consultancy built on the outstanding quality of its staff. The post holder will also be invited to serve as a member of the company management committee.

PharmaVentures Corporate Advisory team is a global advisory business focusing on the pharmaceutical and medical devices sectors. Its main clients are life science companies concerned with commercialising innovation, achieving successful deals, business profitability and growth. The team is recognised as expert in all aspects of deals and alliances including market strategy, valuations, portfolio assessments, due diligence and expert reports. PharmaVentures’ Transactions team has expertise in licensing, M&A, and deal support. These two arms, the Transactions team and the Corporate Advisory team, combine to offer the industry a broad range of advisory services and over the past 19 years has enabled PharmaVentures to achieve a well-deserved reputation for deep market insight and thought leadership.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate previous leadership achievements in commercial strategy consulting and supporting licensing and M&A deals.

The principal areas of responsibility are to:

  • develop new and existing business relationships with leading healthcare corporations.
  • be responsible for achieving agreed revenue and profitability targets.
  • be responsible for the development of consultancy opportunities and the delivery of projects leveraging the resources of PharmaVentures.
  • manage the operational activities of the Corporate Advisory team, and lead operational improvements.
  • contribute to the promotion and development of all aspects of PharmaVentures’ business, for example through participation on the Management Committee, conference attendance and presentations, the publication of articles in industry journals and general networking.

The successful candidate will have the following credentials and skills:

  • At least 5 years of consulting experience gained in a commercial business environment and 10 years of healthcare industry experience.
  • Demonstrated capability to win business from clients at C-Suite and Board Level.
  • Evidence of strong leadership and the previous team management of multiple projects.
  • Strong credentials in analysing the commercial potential of therapeutic innovation, product-market assessment and commercialisation strategy development.
  • Robust analytical (incl. numerical) skills in the areas of pharmaceutical products and assets. Be able to demonstrate an understanding of valuation methodologies.
  • Excellent spoken English, written communication and presentation skills. Proficiency in a second language would be advantageous.
  • Confident with a mature attitude and professional image.
  • Intelligent, adaptable team player.
  • Graduate, probably with a post graduate qualification.

Senior Director Transactions (Oxford, UK)

PharmaVentures is seeking an experienced deal maker to take a leadership role to develop it’s successful business within the Transactions Practice. The successful candidate will have the responsibility to deliver against revenue and profitability targets, as well as execute client licensing and M&A projects.

PharmaVentures is a transactional advisory business whose main clients are life science companies concerned about commercialising innovation, business profitability and growth. The team is recognised as experts in tangible and in-tangible transaction strategy and it’s implementation, valuations, deal assessment/structuring and deal negotiations. In the last 12 months the team at PharmaVentures has been involved in the divestment of 10 research and manufacturing sites and the successfully licensing of a number of products, PharmaVentures’ clients during this time have included, sanofi-aventis, MSD, UCB, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. The Transactions Practice is central to the PharmaVentures proposition and is a key component in the majority of business development pursuits and projects. The Senior Director will be expected to both win and execute licensing and M&A projects (buy side and sell side). Requirement to demonstrate experience of all components of these processes as evidenced by a history of successful transactions.

The Senior Director will:

  • Be responsible for the development and delivery of projects in the assigned business area leveraging the resources of PharmaVentures.
  • Be responsible for achieving agreed revenue and profitability targets.
  • Develop business relationships with leading healthcare corporations.
  • Contribute to the day-to-day management and development of reports through performance management of assigned staff, and operational improvements.
  • Contribute to the promotion and development of all aspects of PharmaVentures’ business, for example through conference presentations, the publication of articles in industry journals and general networking.

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Several years of pharma industry experience gained in a commercial business area.
  • Strong deals sheet, with evidence of executing high value deals

Director of Marketing

PharmaVentures is seeking an experienced marketing professional to assume leadership of its marketing activities. The Director will provide operational and creative marketing expertise for PharmaVentures including corporate PR as well as both the Corporate Advisory and PharmaDeals business areas. The Director will manage direct reports to ensure departmental targets are met on time and within budget. The Director will also provide input to the Marketing and Business Development Strategy and operations to support the delivery of bottom line revenues for other PharmaVentures Group Activities as required.

Key responsibilities – to generate leads by:

  • Providing creative input for all PharmaVentures marketing collaterals including all websites.
  • Functioning as the marketing subject matter expert.
  • Devising and implementing marketing campaigns to support delivery of the business’ goals
  • Working with PharmaDeals team to develop and implement marketing campaigns for PharmaVentures’ publishing business.
  • Working with the Head of PharmaDeals to increase subscription sales leads (quality and quantity).
  • Reviewing and delivering improvements to PharmaVentures’ SEO marketing initiatives
  • Monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and other marketing activities using PharmaVentures’ CRM and other available systems.
  • Monitoring competitor marketing activity and feeding this in to forward strategy to help PharmaVentures establish and maintain a marketing edge.
  • Monitoring and analysing internal and external sector activities and suggesting improvements to existing offerings or new offerings to enhance PharmaVentures business.
  • Identifying market research requirements and acting on findings in consultation with senior staff.
  • Planning and managing the operational activities of the Marketing Manager and Senior Manager – Direct Marketing.
  • Working with the Head of Business Development / Marketing to develop appropriate positioning and messaging for PharmaVentures offerings.
  • Efficiently and Effectively utilising resources and budget.
  • Providing timely reports for senior management.
  • Supporting external activities such as trade shows, conferences etc as required.

Essential

  • A minimum of 5 years marketing experience with creative input
  • Professional Marketing Qualification
  • Good Knowledge of the Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology Industry
  • Experience in marketing for the publishing sector (B2B or STM), including subscription sales
  • Good presentation/training skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to work across functional teams
  • Fluent English Speaker (other languages an advantage)
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.

Desirable

  • Experience of pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life science sectors
  • Experience of working in a consultancy environment
  • Previous line management experience
