Nick Hyde

Nick Hyde M.A., C. Dip. A.F. (Associate Principal)

Prior to joining with PharmaVentures in 2008 Nick was business leader for Dowpharma and was a key member of the team which successfully divested this business. He is a graduate in engineering from Cambridge University, UK, and has worked for a total of 24 years for ICI, Zeneca, AstraZeneca and Avecia in a range of roles in manufacturing and business management, culminating in having responsibility for more than 400 staff across four sites in the UK. He was Vice President of Avecia’s Pharmaceutical Services business from 2000 to 2002. Nick joined Dow Chemical in September 2002 and led the consolidation of all Dow Chemical service and technology offerings to the pharmaceuticals industry and the subsequent rationalisation program. Nick’s industry leadership was recognised by his election to the Board of Governors of the US trade organisation, SOCMA, in 2001 and 2002.

Bob has served as a consultant to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and other healthcare companies for over ten years and, in that time, has worked on some 150 assignments in the areas of strategy and business planning; technical evaluation; market assessment; valuation; due diligence and Experts. reports; licensing/partnering; and litigation support. Before entering consultancy, Bob was a member of the founding entrepreneurial team of Proteus International plc (now BTG plc). During his ten years at Proteus, Bob held various R&D and commercial positions and served as a Director of Progene Partners, a joint venture with Genelabs Technologies, Inc.

John Buckle, Ph.D.

John Buckle, Ph.D. (Associate Director)

John is strategist and business developer with 29 years of experience in the healthcare / life sciences industry. Before becoming a consultant he worked for Wyeth, Smith & Nephew, Wellcome (now GlaxoSmithKline) and Sanofi in increasingly senior positions in marketing, business development and general management, and was a main board director of the London Stock Exchange listed CeNeS Pharmaceuticals plc. He has advised governments and numerous pharmaceutical and biotech companies on strategy and transactions in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, diagnostics, drug delivery systems, and medical supplies globally. John has a PhD from the University of Cambridge.

Heather Cartwright

Heather Cartwright MBiochem, DipFM (Senior Advisor)

Heather is an experienced advisor with particular expertise in forecasting and product valuation, competitive landscaping, market analysis and transfer pricing. She has also delivered workshops on valuation methodologies. Her current focus at PharmaVentures is on providing expert opinion on the structure and pricing of pharmaceutical licensing transactions. Prior to joining PharmaVentures, Heather gained her undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry from Trinity College, University of Oxford and she has since been awarded the ACCA Diploma in Financial Management.
